Affordable Health Insurance

As part of my commitment to Jacksonville's citizens for affordable health care here are a few ideas to consider. Frankly, I am not sure if this isn't the most affordable and most accessible health care has been since the beginning of health insurance in the 1930's.

1. Low cost group plans from Blue Cross - 50% less than traditional plans.
2. Value Pick plans from Aetna - only requires 25% contribution by employers.
3. GoBlue from Blue Cross - Discount Program.

Another concept to consider...
1. 30 year old male can purchase a $5,000 deductible for under $60 a month. In addition he can purchase Blue Cross' GoBlue Plan 91 for $30 that gives him access to office visits, dentist visits, prescriptions and lab tests at discounted prices. Totalling less than $99. Sprint sells their cell phone plans for $99 a month per person. Comcast cable offered their triple play package for $99.

2. 50 year old female can purchase the same deductible for under $160 a month and buy the same Plan 91 for $46 with the same access to discounts. Just over $200 a month for quality health insurance and access to the world's best health care.

Several statistics have shown that 18 million of the 48 million uninsured are families that earn between $50,000 and $75,000. Most of these families have parents who are between 25 and 40 years old. Now this does not account for our citizens that cannot obtain health care due to pre-existing conditions. However most people do not realize how easy it is to create a small business that provides a product or service with 1 or 2 employees and that qualifies for group health insurance. Group health insurance provides pre-existing condition limitations and guaranteed issue.
